Abstract

1,268,052. Folding rules. RABONE CHESTERMAN Ltd. Oct. 9, 1969 [July 11, 1968], No. 33059/68. Heading G1M. A folding rule comprises a pair of synthetic plastics legs 11, 12 inter-connected by a hinge 13 consisting of eyes 17, 18 integral with each leg and a metal hinge pin 25 on which metal washers 26 are mounted. The legs are made of material such as a polycarbonate and the washers, which may be bowed and have an annular or a C-shape, are made of stainless steel. The washers engage the faces 17a, 18a of the eyes and reduce the frictional resistance of the hinge. Two such rules may be connected together by a pivot having an axis perpendicular to each hinge axis and connecting one leg of each rule together.
