Abstract
1,268,017. Drawing. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 13 March, 1970 [16 Sept., 1969], No. 12078/70. Heading B3P. A tube is drawn over a plug connected to a mandrel bar 70 and rod 50 by vibrating the plug by transducers 60 arranged at the periphery of one or more flanges 51A-F secured to the rod 50 to cause each flange to be vibrated to resonance and the energy to be transmitted along the rod 50 to the plug. Each flange 51A-F is provided with twelve transducers 60. The rod 50 is supported in a housing 1 having wheels (8A-D) (Figs. 5 and 9, not shown) which are vertically adjustable to align the rod 50 with the drawing die and which allow horizontal movement of the housing 1. The housing 1 is moved by an air cylinder 76. The mandrel bar 70 has an inclined shoulder 79 for amplifying the vibratory energy and for transferring the tensile force produced during drawing to the housing 1 via members 5, 4A, 4B. If the vibratory speed of the bar 50, as detected by a device 61, deviates from a set value, a control device 122 functions to restore the speed to the set value. After drawing, a trough' 102A supporting the mandrel bar 70 is raised by members 105A-C and another supporting trough 102B lowered into the operating position.
