Abstract
1,267,527. Modifying steel surfaces. AUSTRALIAN IRON & STEEL (PTY) Ltd. July 15, 1969 [July 25, 1968], No.35689/69. Heading C7U. A sulphur enriched steel surface is formed by applying an aqueous solution (pH 7À0 to 9À5) of a sulphide, e.g. sodium sulphide, drying, and then heating at 600 to 800‹C. in a neutral or reducing atmosphere. The steel may be first cleaned in a hot alkaline solution. The pH may be adjusted with sulphuric acid.
