Abstract

126,727. Davis, R. H. March 3, 1917. Respiratory appliances.-Apparatus for use in testing airmen's breathing appliances under low pressure comprises a chamber a connected to a vacuum pump by a pipe f fitted with a non-return valve g and gauge h. The chamber is fitted with an air-tight door b, window d, air-lock e for the introduction or removal of articles into and from the chamber, internal and external air admission valves i, k, electric light cable d, and telephone cable m. Internal and external barometers, means for analysing the contained air, and means for measuring the rate of delivery of oxygen through the valve of the breathing appliance being tested may also be provided. Two or more chambers may be connected together so that one serves as an air-lock to another. The chamber may also be used for accustoming novices to the conditions prevailing at high altitudes.
