Abstract
1,267,096. Image pick-up tubes. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 30 Oct., 1969 [1 Nov., 1968], No. 53193/69. Heading HID. In an image pick-up tube wherein electrons from a photo-cathode pass to a channel multiplier the output from which charges a storage screen which is scanned by an electron beam, the channel multiplier is effective only over an area corresponding to the scanned area of the storage screen to prevent noise caused by electrons emanating from the peripheral areas of the multiplier. In one arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), the multiplier comprises a glass disc which is provided with multiplier channels only over a rectangular raster area. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the entire disc is provided with apertures but only the raster area is covered with the coatings on each side of the disc that provide the necessary accelerating field; these coatings are extended in orthogonal directions to respective connecting terminals at the edges of the disc.
