Abstract
1,266,369. Magnetic storage device. VICKERS - ZIMMER A.G. PLANUNG UND BAU VON INDUSTRIEANLAGEN. 30 July, 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 38322/69. Heading H3B. [Also in Division H1] In a method of making a magnetic storage device, apertured insulating plates are superposed to form a cavity 13, Fig. 2, which is then filled with a flowable magnetic material, the plates carrying printed conductors 7, 9 and 11. Plates 6, 8 and 10 each have two apertures 4 and 5, and carry respective conductors, the disposition of the conductors relative to the apertures being shown in the plan view of Fig. 1f. A similarly shaped plate 3 insulates conductor 7 from the magnetic material, while the outer plates 1 have a single aperture 2. The plates may be stuck together or clamped while the magnetic material sets, or the inherent adhesive properties of the magnetic material may be used. The resulting magnetic core may be ground to give desired magnetic characteristics. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, each plate has a pattern of conductors and apertures, so that a matrix of electrically interconnected cores 15 may be formed. The magnetic material comprises a mixture of a magnetic powder such as iron carbonyl or a ferrite and a liquid or thermoplastic binding agent, hardening preferably taking place near room temperature, see Division H1. The plates may be of different thicknesses, and may have conductors on both sides. Several devices may be made at one time, being separated later by cutting the plates.
