Abstract
1,265,857. 5 - Amino - 1,3,4 - thiadazole derivatives. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 26 Nov., 1969 [23 Dec., 1968], No. 57885/69. Heading C2C. The invention comprises N-acyl derivatives of 5-amino - 1, 3,4-thiadazoles of general formula in which R is alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkinyloxy, alkylsulphoxyl, alkylsulphonyl or in which R<SP>11</SP> is hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino, alkylamino or arylamino optionally substituted by chlorine and/or nitro, and n is 1, 2 or 3; and R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl or -NR<SP>111</SP>R<SP>IV</SP> in which R<SP>111</SP> is hydrogen or alkyl and R<SP>IV</SP> is alkyl. They may be prepared by (a) reacting a compound of formula with (i) an isocyanate of formula BINGO, (ii) an acid anhydride of formula (R<SP>1</SP>CO) 2 0 or (iii) an acid halide of general formula R<SP>1</SP>COX, in which X is a halogen, in the presence of an acid binding agent; or (b) by reacting a compound of formula in which R<SP>x</SP> is methyl or phenyl at elevated temperature with an amine of formula HNR<SP>111</SP>R<SP>IV</SP>. The products may be used as herbicides either alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent or carrier.
