Sulphonanilides of Formulµ (III) and (V) may be obtained by reacting a corresponding fluorocarbon sulphonic anhydride or fluorocarbon sulphonyl halide with a solution of an appropriate aminobenzophenone or aniline and an acid acceptor in an organic solvent, preferably at -15‹ to + 150‹ C. Pharmaceutical compositions having antiinflammatory activity, and in some cases antipyretic and analgesic activity, comprise compounds of Formula (I) or (II) in conjunction with a pharmaceutical carrier for administration orally. Plant growth regulating compositions comprise compounds of Formula (II) above dispersed in an extending medium.
