Abstract
1,265,370. Turning internal-combustion engines. SUN ELECTRIC (NEDERLAND) N.V. June 2, 1969, No.27849/69. Headings F1K and F1M. A device for bringing a piston of an internal combustion engine, provided with a starter motor 1, into a position adjacent to or corresponding with the top dead centre of the compression stroke, includes a switching device 7, 10 adapted to be connected into the starter motor circuit and operable to connect a current supply 4 to the starter motor to actuate the starter motor to effect movement of such piston and to interrupt the supply in response to a control signal at the input 11 emitted by the associated cylinder or an associated member when the piston is in the desired position, and switch means (not shown) operable without further movement of the piston to reset the switching device via the input 12 to permit sequential actuation thereof to bring the various pistons succes sively into the desired position. The control signal may be derived from the high voltage produced in a spark-plug circuit, from the primary circuit of an ignition coil, from a pressure rise in a fuel injection line or a pressure sensitive device in the spark-plug hole of the cylinder.
