[Also in Division C7] An electrophotographic element is made by the vapour deposition of a photoconductive layer on a cylindrical support or a strip, or plate support from a plurality of vaporizers wherein the support is moved continuously in relation to the vaporizers (a cylindrical support being turned and a strip or plate support being displaced in its own plane) and the vaporizers are disposed on a line extending across the direction of movement of the support and at such a distance from the support that a non-uniform layer is deposited. The photoconductive layer is preferably doped or undoped selenium and is convex or concave across the full width of the support. The vaporizers may be arranged at different distances from the support or one another or be charged with different quantities of material.
