Abstract
1,263,707. Inductor alternators. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 1 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 47144/68. Heading H2A. In an inductor-alternator of the kind disclosed in Specification 1,152,216, comprising an excitation winding provided at circumferentially spaced positions B, B<SP>1</SP> on the stator, a number of short-circuited coils 21 on the rotor and an output winding A, A<SP>1</SP> on the stator, an additional winding in the form of short-circuited conductors is provided on the stator. The additional winding reduces the flux density over the regions B, B<SP>1</SP> and is preferably disposed only over these regions. It may comprise either bars 22 interconnected by end rings 23, 24, or a conductive sheet. Preferably also the air gap g 1 , is increased by steps g 2 , g 3 over the regions B, B<SP>1</SP>, the gap g 2 being formed by the removal of stator teeth.
