Abstract
1,263,496. Rubber - silica compositions. DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT. 16 May, 1969 [17 May, 1968], No. 24980/69. Headings C3P and C3Q. A rubber-silica mixture is prepared by dispersing silica or silicate powder in water at a pH of 2 to 2À5 over a period of 2 to 8 minutes, intimately mixing the resulting dispersion with a rubber latex, coagulating the latex at a pH of 5 to 6À5, adjusting the pH of the mixture to from 2 to 2À5 on completion of coagulation and, after filtering and drying, grinding the agglomerate, which is provided with additives and/or vulcanization auxiliaries. In the example, an SBR rubber latex containing naphthenic mineral oil, fatty alcohol-polyglycol ether solution, alkylated styrenized phenolic anti-ager and naphthenic mineral oil is co-coagulated with a silica dispersion, the pH being adjusted with sulphuric acid.
