Abstract

1,263,273. Laundry apparatus. STEINER CO. LAUSANNE S.A. 13 Feb., 1969, No. 7987/69. Heading D1A. Fabric articles are rinsed by transporting them along a predetermined path and repeatedly subjecting them at spaced apart points on this path to rinsing liquid into which gas is introduced so that the mixture is forced through the articles under pressure. The articles pass from the washer section Specification 1,263,275 between a conveyer belt 73 passing round roller 130 and a conveyer belt 136 and between the rollers 191, 192 of wringer 190 to rinser conveyer 221. Conveyer 221 comprises upper and lower open stainless steel mesh endless belts 222, 223 of respectively light and heavy gauge. Mounted above belt 222 are four units 230a, 230b, 230c, 230d which discharge water with steam, air or other gas through the articles on the conveyer and into vessels 240a to 240d, the liquid from vessels 240a to 240c being pumped into units 230b to 230d respectively and from vessel 240d back to the washing stage. Fresh water is supplied to unit 230a and steam &c is supplied by pipes 253 to all the units controlled by valve 255. The articles pass from belt 223 held by guide belt 227 on to drum 261 where they are engaged by the rollers 262, 263 of wringer 260. Each unit 230 comprises a pressure chamber 231 with a longitudinal opening in the base extending across the belt 223 and having side flanges 231h and 231i extending upwards into the chamber 231 and forming nozzle 232. Steam and liquid are fed into chamber 231 and, as the liquid over flows flanges 231h, i, it is mixed with the steam and forced out and through conveyer belts 222, 223. From wringer 260 the articles pass to the dryer see Specification 1,263,274 and thence to the ironer.
