Abstract

1,262,744. Clocks and watches. R. W. REICH. Feb. 3, 1969 [Feb. 6, 1968], No.5592/69. Heading G3T. An electromagnetic driving system, for a timepiece comprises a mechanical oscillator 11, 12, 12a for providing relative motion between permanent magnets N, S and a single coil 1 included in an electronic circuit comprising a p np transistor 2 having its emitter and collector in series with a D. C. source B and the coil 1, a series connection of a capacitor 7 and resistors 6, 3 in the order shown between said collector and emitter, and an n-p-n transistor 4 for biasing the p -n-p, transistor 2 to induction to obtain driving current through the coil 1 only during a predetermined half of each oscillation of the mechanical oscillator. A voltage stabilizing silicon diode is provided between the base and emitter of the transistor 4. In an alternative embodiment the coil 1 is connected in parallel with a capacitor 8 Fig. 2 (not shown) between the collector of the transistors 2, 4. An assembly of seriesconnected coils may replace the coil 1.
