Abstract
1416728 Tuning fork oscillators BULOVA WATCH CO Inc 20 Dec 1972 [17 April 1972] 58939/72 Heading H3T [Also in Division G3] An integrated circuit chip in a circuit for sustaining oscillations of a mechanical resonator (e.g. in a watch) comprises a capacitor 18 in the picofarad range, a resistor 19 in the megohm range and a " super-gain " switching transistor 17. The integrated circuit is connectable to a drive coil 13 and a sensing coil 15 which cooperate with permanent magnets 12, 14 on a tuning fork, the arrangement forming a Hartley oscillator. The tuning fork may be coupled to an indexing mechanism either mechanically or magnetically (not shown) or the oscillations may be used to produce pulses to activate an electronic time display. Alternatively the resonator may be a balance wheel.
