Abstract

1,262,652. Mechanical switches. WARD & GOLDSTONE Ltd. 23 June, 1969 [5 July, 1968], No. 32103/68. Heading H1N. An electric switch having a body 9, a removable cover'6 and an opening at one extremity for flexible conductors has at or near the other extremity push-buttons 13, 32 such that with push-button 13 depressed, Fig. 4, push-button 32 projects, contacts 23, 24 close and pushbuttons 13, 32 latch together so that pushbutton 13 can only. be released by depressing push-button 32, Fig. 2, whereupon contacts 23, 24 open and push-buttons 13, 32 latch together again.so that contacts 23, 24 can only. be closed again by depressing push-button 13. As shown, push-button 13 has a shank 12 which has a lug 30. In the contacts open position, Fig. 2, lug 30 lies inside an opening 31 in push-button 32 and holds it depressed which holds contact 23 away from the end 25 of fixed contact 24. When push-button 13 is depressed lug 30 passes through opening 31 and frees push-button 32 which is pushed outwardly by spring contact 23, Fig. 4, and lug 30 latches behind the inner end of push-button 32. When push-button 32 is again depressed lug 30 is freed and push-button 13 is pushed outwardly by spring 16 and contact 23 is pushed by push-button 32 away from contact 24. There are two sets of mating contacts 23, 24, shown better in Fig. 1 (not shown) moulded in nylon blocks 20.
