Abstract
1,262,241. Triglycerides. INSTITUT NATIONAL DE LA SANTE ET DE LA RECHERCHE MEDICALE. 14 Jan., 1970, No. 1911/70. Heading C2C. Fatty acyl triglycerides, specifically 3-stearoyloxy - 2 - oleoyloxy - 1 - elaidoyloxypropane, 3 - stearoyloxy - 2 - elaidoyloxy - 1 - oleoyloxypropane, and 3-elaidoyloxy-2-stearoyloxy-1-oleoyloxypropane are prepared by (a) reacting a fatty acyl glycidyl monoester with anhydrous hydrogen halide at low temperature to produce the corresponding 1-halo-3-fatty acyloxypropan-2-ol, (b) esterifying this halohydrin monoester with a second fatty acid or derivative thereof and (c) then further esterifying the resulting halodiester with a third fatty acid or derivative thereof. The halodiester may be filtered, the diluent removed by distillation and the ester extracted with a hydrocarbon such as hexane. Examples describe the preparation of the above triglycerides via intermediates 1- bromo - 3 - stearoyloxy - propan - 2 - ol, 1- bromo - 3 - stearoyloxy - 2 - oleoyloxypropane, and 1 - bromo - 3 - stearoyloxy - 2 - elaidoyloxypropane, and 1 - bromo - 3 - elaidoyloxy - 2- stearoyloxy propane.
