Abstract

1,261,892. Vehicle wheels. DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd. 12 March, 1969 [15 March, 1968; 14 May, 1968], Nos. 12585/68 and 22771/68. Heading B7C. [Also in Division B3] A vehicle wheel comprises a rim 1 and disc 2 with an annular channel formed therebetween by grooves 6 on the rim and 8 on the disc. Four small holes 9 are formed on the peripheral portion 7 of the disc at equally spaced positions around the circumference communicating with the annular space. The rim and disc are secured together by injecting liquid thermoplastic or thermosetting material through two of the holes 9 and into the annular space, air escaping from the remaining two holes, and allowing the injected material to solidify to form a locking member 10 in situ. In modifications the rim is formed of two parts, one of which may be integral with or welded to the disc, the three parts being secured together by one or two of the said locking members. The parts may be secured against circumferential movement by, for example, interlocking projections and depressions.
