Abstract

1,261,660. Antihistaminic &c compositions. MERCK & CO. Inc. 15 June, 1970 [18 June, 1969; 23 March, 1970], No. 28940/70. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having decarboxylase-inhibiting and anti-histaminic activity comprise an L-α-hydrazino-α-R-#-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl) propionic acid (in which R is H or C 1-5 alkyl) substantially free of the D-isomer (i.e. containing less than 10% of D-isomer), or a C 1-5 alkyl ester thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said acid or ester, together with a pharmaceutical diluent or carrier. The active ingredient may be used in conjunction with L-dopa. The compositions may be administered orally or parenterally.
