Abstract
1,261,601. Refrigerating. DEFENCE, SECRETARY OF STATE FOR. 1 July, 1970 [19 Aug., 1969], No. 41255/69. Heading F4H. Cryogenic liquid in the form of droplets suspended in a gas carrier is supplied through a delivery tube 15 into a hollow finger 21 to cool a load 23 housed in a housing 27 externally of the finger, the end of the finger adjacent the load being closed by material of good thermal conductivity. The upper end of the finger is sealed to a chamber 25 surrounding a portion of the tube 15 having apertures 31 therein for separation of the gas phase from the liquid, the gas passing out of the chamber through an outlet pipe 29. A temperature sensing system 19 provides closed-loop control of coolant flow.
