Abstract

1368107 Refrigerating HYMATIC ENG CO Ltd 4 Sept 1972 [6 Sept 1971] 41541/71 Heading F4H The rate of flow of refrigerant through the nozzle 29 of a Joule-Thomson cooling apparatus is regulated by a temperature sensor 17 having a surface inclined at a small angle to a wall of the container 13 and spaced therefrom by a capillary gap tapering to a minimum to retain a liquid drop of refrigerant at any inclination of the apparatus. The sensor is located laterally from the stream of refrigerant issuing from the nozzle towards a load 14, e.g. an infra-red detector and protected from the refrigerant by a shield 38. The nozzle is controlled by and forms a seating for a needle valve 34 carried by a support 39 and bellows 35. (For Figures see next column.)
