A sintered metal synchromesh ring has narrow splines 2, 3 formed on an inner tapered surface of the ring in the direction of the generatrix of the surface which are given their final dimensions by pressing, the splines being arranged in groups with a depression 5 provided between adjacent splines of a group. The splines have bases broader than their apices, the slope of the side faces 6, 7 of the splines being chosen in accordance with the material of the ring so that sharp edges between the side faces 6, 7 and the conical faces 2, 3 may be formed.
