Dichtungsringe und Dichtungskörper aller Art werden seit Jahren in steigendem Maße aus Sintereisen hergestellt. Hierbei hat man ihre Gestalt und Abmessungen ganz schematisch den früher benutzten Ringen aus Kupfer,. Messing, Blei, Asbest usw. angeglichen. Dadurch war es bisher nicht möglich, bei Sintereisenringen die gleichen Gebrauchseigenschaften zu erzielen, wie sie beispielsweise ein Kupfer-Asbest-Dichtungsring besitzt. Während bei diesem die Umhüllung-aus Kupferblech der Träger der erforderlichen Festigkeit ist, gewährleistet die eingeschlossene Asbestmasse eine ausreichende Verformbarkeit des Werkstückes. Bei den heute üblichen Dichtungsringen aus Sintereisen von rechteckigem Querschnitt kann, man aber die eine der erforderlichen Eigenschaften immer nur auf Kosten der anderen erzielen. Wird der Ring unter hohem Druck gepreßt, so besitzt er zwar eine ausreichende Festigkeit, aber eine zu geringe Verformbarkeit; wird er bei niedrigem Druck gepreßt, dann ist er zwar gut verformbar, aber zu wenig fest.Sealing rings and sealing bodies of all kinds have been in use for years increasingly made of sintered iron. Demgemäß besitzt der neue Dichtungsring einen oder mehrere ringförmige Wülste oder andere Verdickungen. In der Abbildung sind zwei Ausführungsbeispiele dargestellt. Bei der Herstellung dieser Ringe auf einer einfach wirkenden Presse wird das Pulver an den verdickten Stellen weniger fest gepreßt, so daß diese weich und verformbar bleiben.
