A photographic film comprises a support bearing on one side thereof a layer of light-sensitive material, and on the other side thereof a contiguous layer (1) of polyvinyl acetal resin containing a malting agent, and contigiously superposed on layer (1), a thinner layer (2) of polyvinyl acetal resin containing a phosphoric acid ester of an alcohol having 8-22 carbons or an amine salt of such an ester, the polyvinyl acetal resin in each layer having more than 50 mole % of aldehyde-derived groups. A sub layer is preferably present between the support and the light-sensitive material layer. The aldehydederived groups of the polyvinyl acetal resin may be derived from an aliphatic aldehyde having 1-4 carbons, benzaldehyde or a benzaldehyde having substituent(s) on the benzene ring. The polyvinyl acetal resin may be derived from a partially esterified polyvinyl alcohol. The support is preferably cellulose triacetate or polyethylene terephthalate. The light-sensitive material is preferably a gelatinous emulsion of a silver halide. The malting agent may be polystyrene (Example 1),. silicon dioxide (Example 2) or barium sulphate (Example 3). Layer (2) may contain 5-30% by weight of the phosphoric acid ester or amine salt. The photographic film has excellent anti-scratch and antistatic properties and does not suffer from decreased speed, increased fog or variation in gamma.
