Abstract
1,260,055. Coin-freed meters. M. R. EVANS. 23 Dec., 1970 [8 Jan., 1970], No. 929/70. Heading G4V. A prepayment meter incorporates a warning device which has electrically operable visible and/or audible warning means actuable by a switch, the switch comprising a fixed contact 27 and a second contact 22 carried on a wheel 21 associated with a dial for indicating the prepaid capacity of the meter such that the contacts will close just before the prepaid capacity of the meter is exhausted. The contact may be in the form of a discontinuous strip (22a) on a raised portion (29) of the wheel (Fig. 4, not shown) so that an intermittent warning signal is provided. An isolating switch 12 may be provided so that the remaining prepaid capacity may be used without having the warning device continually operating. The warning means may be located relatively remote from the meter.
