Abstract

1473313 Trading system K N RUDD 6 May 1974 [7 Feb 1973] 5986/73 Heading G4T A trading system comprises a till 1 which passes signals related to individual cash sales totals via a line 6 to an accumulator module 7 whose function is to send-upon the cash sales total reaching a predetermined magnitude-a bonus signal via line 10 to an indicator control 9 which stores the signal until a sensor 4 is operated by the arrival of the next customer, and then releases a pulse which generates a win sequence. The win sequence pulse may operate a stamp dispenser 20 which pays out the win in trading stamps, and feeds an indicator display 19 which informs the customers of the win. The magnitude of the bonus is predetermined by a win magnitude selector 11 which incorporates a gated electronic scanner. The scanner is stopped by a random signal 8 indicated by e.g. draw closure and therefore randomly selects a win magnitude from a given range. Further refinements include a preset circuit 14 which enables payment of additional prizes at random during the day once a bonus and jackpot register 23 which, in addition to incorporating a counter to provide a permanent record of bonus payout totals, provides upon that bonus total reaching a preset value, a pulse which initiates a jackpot sequence overriding existing information in the accumulator 7 and win magnitude selector 11. The sensor 4 situated in the well 3 of a checkout counter 2 may be a switch contact or photoelectric device and is operated when a basket is placed in the well.
