Abstract

1,259,877. Preparing short warps. KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSE TEXTIEL-UNIE N.V. 19 Feb., 1969 [22 Feb., 1968], No. 8904/69. Heading DIM. Apparatus for preparing short lengths of warps comprises an outer winding former 2 having arms 3-10 and an inner former comprising a shaft 1 and at least two moveable thread guides 11, 12 which move to a selected pattern to allow a selected thread to produce a turn around the former 2 and non-selected thread to wrap around the former 1. In Figs. 1 and 7 the yarn guides move radially between the bars 3-10 in such a way that odd numbered threads 16 when being wound pass always inside the arm 5 and even numbered threads 15 always pass inside the arm 6 to allow for leasing. The yarn guides 11, 12 and former 12 move apart gradually to prevent interference of the warps during winding. In a modification (Fig. 11) the arms 3-10 are replaced by discs 22, 23 and yarn guides 24, 25 each put one yarn on each disc. Threads are crossed for leasing by separators 36, 37 on radially extending rotatably mounted arms 38, 39 or alternatively by passing the threads over or above arms 46 (Fig. 12). The warps from all the discs are placed together to form a single sheet of warps.
