Abstract

1,259,784. Diaminodicyclohexylmethane. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 June, 1969 [3 July, 1968], No. 31789/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a method for the partial separation of the stereoisomers of 4,4<SP>1</SP> - diaminodicyclohexylmethane. The method consists in forming a salt of the isomers with a dicarboxylic acid and subjecting the salt mixture to a water wash, whereby a solid residue having an increased proportion of the trans, trans isomer is obtained. The preferred dicarboxylic acid is α,#-dodecanedioic acid, but others are specified also. Examples are given. The trans, trans isomer may be used in the manufacture of polyamides (see Division C3).
