Abstract

The invention comprises a method for the partial separation of the stereoisomers of 4,41 - diaminodicyclohexylmethane. The method consists in forming a salt of the isomers with a dicarboxylic acid and subjecting the salt mixture to a water wash, whereby a solid residue having an increased proportion of the trans, trans isomer is obtained. The preferred dicarboxylic acid is [alpha],#-dodecanedioic acid, but others are specified also. Examples are given. The trans, trans isomer may be used in the manufacture of polyamides (see Division C3).
