Abstract
1,259,687. Magnetic storage arrangements. SIEMENS A.G. 8 April, 1969 [9 April, 1 968 ], No. 17747/69. Heading H3B. [Also in Division G4] In associated data storage and selection matrixes 1, 4, reserve storage and/or selection elements 31, 21, are provided which are incompletely connected so that in the event of a storage or selection element failing it may be replaced by completing the connections to a reserve element. The selection matrix 4 comprises sixteen transistors, each connected to a respective word line 2 of the storage matrix 1, current pulses being made to flow in a given word line 2 by coincident pulses in the appropriate row and column lines 6, 7 of the selection matrix. Reserve transistors are provided in a further row, and are connected to additional word lines such as 23 in the storage matrix and to column lines 7 of matrix 4. If a selection transistor, for example 14, fails, it may be burnt out electrically and replaced by connecting the base of reserve transistor 21 to row line 15 of the selection matrix. The connection 22 may be made by depositing silver on an insulating layer. Additional bit lines such as 31 are provided in the storage matrix, and an existing bit line 33 may be replaced by burning it out and making a connection 32 to the reserve line 31. Magnetic film, superconductive or ferrite materials may be used as matrix elements.
