Abstract
1,259,131. Bituminous road surfacing material. WALTER DE COUET STRASSENBAU UND TIEFBAU. 9 Jan., 1969 [9 Jan., 1968; 1 Oct., 1968], No. 1333/69. Heading C3N. A heterogeneous bituminous road surfacing material comprises a modification of the conventional tarmacadam type comprising mineral material bonded with a mastic containing a filler, wherein the filler comprises at most 18% by weight of the total material and consists of mineral material of particle size less than 0À09 mm., a wetting agent and at least one of the following components: (a) a natural or synthetic olefinic polymer or olefinic polymer mixture; (b) a fibrous mineral material; and (c) a clay. The fibrous mineral material may be asbestos, glass fibres or slag wool. The olefinic polymer may be rubber which may be in the form of a powder. A preferred amount of filler is about 7À5% by weight of the total material.
