[Also in Division F1] In a pumping assembly (see Division F1) the shaft 27 has a thrust ring 33 which co-operates with a bearing 32, and with a thrust bearing 34 having six cavities 35 receiving high pressure water through duct 36 and pipe 38. Leakage from the thrust bearing passes along the shaft to lubricate bearings 28, 29, and also passes into a chamber 39 where it is delivered into return duct 41 by thrower 42. The thrust bearing is carried by a block 37 urged towards the thrust ring by a spring ring 44. High pressure motor may be fed directly to the bearing 28 by a separate duct or by a branch from duct 36, fluid leakage between the bearings 28, 34 being collected in an intermediate space and drained therefrom into chamber 43 by a duct in the bearing block. The bearing 32 may be replaced by a further thrust bearing supplied with lubricant from the pipe 38 via a duct in inner casing 19, and biased towards the thrust ring. Bearings 28, 29, 29A may be of carbon impregnated with copper.
