Abstract
1,258,130. Riveting; making capacitors. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 2 April, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 17323/69. Headings B3A and B3U. [Also in Divisions F2, H1 and H2] A metallic electrical terminal 1 is secured to one or more insulating plates 2, 3 by passing the terminal 1 through the insulator, peeling an outer peripheral layer from the cylindrical body of the terminal and swaging the layer against the insulator, the material of the insulator immediately surrounding the terminal 1 being deformed beyond its elastic limit. An aluminium lead 9 of an electrolytic capacitor is welded to the aluminium terminal 1 and a hollow projection 5 of the terminal is riveted over an eye of the lead 9. The capacitor is enclosed within a metal housing, the rim 6 of which is spun over the insulating plates 2, 3. A lead 8 is welded to the post 7 of the terminal.
