A wall of lean, gap-graded, premixed and compacted concrete comprises coarse aggregate and sufficient air entrained matrix just to fill the voids between the particles of coarse aggregate. The matrix, which is composed of water, cement and fine aggregate, can be stripped (by washing and brushing) from the surface to present only coarse aggregate to the eye and atmosphere. A skin coat of plaster can be applied to the inner face of the wall.
