Abstract

1,257,470. Compression filter. DAVEY PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. 3 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13719/68. Heading B1D. Sewage sludge is dewatered by compression between one or two fluted rollers 4, urged downwards by their own or added weights or by spring-loading, and rotary drum 1, comprising a wire mesh or perforate screen 2 covered with a protective layer 3 of foam polyurethane or rubber, felt, woolen blanket or synthetic fibre. The layer 3 is cleaned by a scraper wire 11 and by filtrate which drains into the drum at the top and out through the bottom. Roller 4 is cleaned by scraper 12, both wire 11 and scraper 12 being spring- loaded. Nozzles 17, 20 deliver air or washing liquid on to the drum.
