Abstract

1,257,456. Vehicle bodies. JOHNSON RUBBER CO. 16 April, 1970, No. 18269/70. Heading B7B. A liner structure for cushioning impacts on the floor 11 of the body 12 of a dump-type vehicle comprises elongated elastomeric sheet members 16, elastomeric rib members 17 adapted to fit along the edges of the sheet member 16, fastening bolts 37 attaching the rib members 17 to the floor 11 so that they secure the sheet members 16, and metal strips 34 for spreading the force of the bolts along the rib members, the rib members 17 covering the bolts 37 and the metal strips 34 to prevent damage thereto. Wedge-shaped projections 29 on the rib members 17 engage inclined surfaces 27 on the sheet members 16 to form an interlocking joint affording mutual lateral support for the members 16, 17. The metal strips 34 and the bolts 37 are housed in T-shaped slots 33 extending along the rib members 17. Eiastomeric side members 18 are positioned along the side of the floor against fillet elements 32. The rear end of the liner structure is protected by a welded metal end assembly comprising a bar 44, semi-cylindrical end members 46 aligned with the rib members 17, and triangular brace members 47. The elastomeric members 16, 17, 18 may be formed of synthetic rubber by extrusion.
