Abstract

1,256,934. Conveyers. PACKAGING INDUSTRIES Inc. 3 April, 1969 [4 April, 1968], No. 17585/69. Heading B8A. A web 22 is fed from container 25 by a driven roller 27, the web being formed with blisters 21 separated by cuts 23 so that, as the two suction cups 33, 34 engage a pair of blisters, the blisters are detached from the web 22 and are transferred to fall into apertures 41 in conveyer belt 38. Cups 33, 34 are carried by brackets 53, each of which is pivotally carried by an arm 29, 30 and influenced by shaft 56 passing through member 57 pivoting at 58, so that the cups move relatively to arms 29, 30, which arms are rocked by actuator 51a. In addition arm 29 is carried by slidable plate 42 so that when the said plate is moved leftwards by actuator 46, the arm 29 slides along shaft 51 to cause the two cups to separate as they rock so that the blisters separate as they are transferred and are deposited on belt 38 with a centre-to-centre distance greater than on the web. The other arm 30 may also be movable laterally. In a modification, a mechanism for producing the lateral and rotary movement of the arm (29) includes a pinion (103) driven by a sector gear (106), Figs. 11, 12 (not shown). In a further modification, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), suction cups (70-72) on arms (67-69) are caused to diverge as a carriage (77) is moved towards a conveyer belt (98). The arms (67- 69) are slidable along divergent guide rods (90-92). The apparatus may be constructed to cause convergence of the blisters.
