Abstract
1,256,841. Heat; developable diazotype materials. OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN N,V, April 30, 1970 [May 2, 1969], No.20923/70. Heading G2C. A heat developable diazotype material comprises a layer containing a diazomium compound, an azo coupler, a heat-sensitive compound producing alkali on heating and in the same or adjacentlayer a non-coupling sulphoxide of formula: - wherein R 1 and R 2 are a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, at least one being a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl, aryloxyalkyl or aryl. The heat-sensitive compound is preferably a triazine derivative as in Specification 1,115,496. Two couplers may be used to produce a black dye image, a naphthalene coupler and an acetracetamide as disclosed in Specification 1,193,987. The light-sensitive layer preferably contains a binder such as a cellulose, a starch or a vinyl polymer and may also contain talc, oxalic, malice, malic or gluconic acid or a benzene or naphthalene sulphonic acid. The sulphoxide may be coated in aqueous polymeric dispersion to the support befor applying the light-sensitive layer. The sulphoxide is used to reduce the development temperature.
