Abstract
1,059,856. Photo-sensitive materials containing fluorescent compounds. J. R. GEIGY A. G. June 5, 1964 [June 6, 1963], No.23445/64. Heading G2C. A diazotype material comprises a cellulose acetate support bearing a surface saponified layer of cellulose hydrate which contains an aryl diazonium compound and a fluorescent compound which is cellulose hydrate substantive. Specified fluorescent compounds are stilbenes of the formula: wherein X is ulphonic acid and Y is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or sulphonic acid, A and B complete a 1, 2, 3 triazoyl (2)-ring which may contain fused rings or be substituted or A is hydrogen and B is an s-triazinyl radical which may be substituted and Z is hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen, -N#<A> B, or a group of formula: The fluorescent compound is first applied to the saponified support and then, after an optional drying, the diazonium compound is applied. In Example 1, a cellulose 2¢ acetate film is saponified in an alkaline solution containing a fluorescent compound of formula: The film is then coated with a diazonium salt, imagewise exposed and developed in an alkaline coupling solution.
