Abstract
1,256,818. Telomerization process. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 26 March, 1970 [26 March, 1969], No. 14698/70. Heading C2C. Telomers of formula C 2 F 5 (CF 2 CF 2 ) n I, wherein n is 1 to 5, are prepared by reaction of C 2 F 5 I, or a mixture thereof with C 4 F 9 I and/or C 6 F 13 I, with tetrafluoroethylene in the presence of bistrichloroacryloyl peroxide at 50-80‹ C. and a pressure of 6 to 13 amtg. The peroxide may be prepared in solution in C 2 F 5 I, or a mixture thereof with C 4 F 9 I and/or C 6 F 13 I,by reaction of trichloro acryloyl chloride with hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide. The process is preferably continuous, and lower telomers may be recycled to the reaction zone.
