Abstract
1,256,753. Propanolamine derivatives. PFIZER Ltd. 29 May, 1970 [30 May, 1969], No. 27549/69. Heading C2C. Compounds of the general formula (R = H, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, alkenoxy, phenylalkyl, halogen, carbamoyl, substituted carbamoyl, acylamino, diacylamino; R<SP>1</SP>=H, alkyl, benzyl, alkanoyl), their carboxylic acid esters, aldehyde condensation products and acid addition salts are prepared by standard methods, e.g. by reacting an amine of the formula with 2 - acetyl - 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydronaphthalene and reducing with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, optionally followed by salt formation. The above compounds are #-adrenergic blocking agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
