Abstract

[Also in Division F2] In a trough belt conveyer, side walls to prevent the spillage of the conveyed material comprise a metal plate 10 and a flexible rubber skirt 12 held in position by a clamping strip (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), carried by a series of spaced clamps 14 secured to the metal plate. The clamps 14 each comprise a handle (16) formed with a circular hub (18) eccentrically mounted for rotation on a spindle (20) to provide an overcentre snap action, and which bears against a spring strip (22) anchored at one end and secured to the clamping strip (13) at the other end. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the circular hub (18) is eccentrically mounted on a pair of stub shafts (30) each releasably received in a recess (34) of a lug (32) when the clamp is in its operative position. On release of the clamp, the handle and the hub may be removed from the lugs and the spring strip (22) swung up between the lugs clear of the skirt.
