Abstract

Telephones. - A compound diaphragm for telephones consists of two or more diaphragms of equal or unequal thickness and of equal or unequal diameter, between which a mixture of distilled water and glycerine is placed. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, two diaphragms a, bare secured to a ring c by rings c', c<2>, the chamber thus formed being wholly or partly filled with liquid d. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the ring c is recessed, in order that the diaphragms a, b may have different effective diameters. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the diaphragms a, b, h of different effective diameters are clamped in a holder i by means of rings j, k, m.
