Abstract

1,256,292. Mounting components on circuit boards. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 26 Feb., 1969 [27 Feb., 1968], No. 10319/69. Heading B3A. [Also in Divisions G3 and H1] In an electrical assembly the components are electrically and mechanically connected by conductor paths formed from a metal sheet plate. Sheet metal strip 10, Fig. 1, has three openings 16, 17, 18 machined into section 11 bounded by shaded portions 12 to 15 to form seven individual conductor paths 21 to 26 each path being provided with cup-like depressions 30 to 33 of different dimensions and conductor path 22 being provided with apertures 34, 35. The components e.g. a voltage regulator, Fig. 6 (not shown) have their leads inserted into the depressions 30 to 33 etc. and soldered therein. Active components such as transistors, diodes are enclosed in a housing which is arranged on a cooling element connected to conductor path 22 by tongues which pass through apertures 34, 35. After positioning and securing the components edge strips 12 to 15 are removed leaving the seven conductor paths insulated from each other. The edge strips need not be entirely removed to separate the conductor paths, Fig. 9 (not shown), bridges opposite the ends of the openings 16 to 18 merely being removed. The regulator is inserted into opening 77 of a brush holder 76 of a generator and sealed therein by a synthetic resin and since the grid plate is situated close below the surface of the synthetic resin heat can be dissipated from the latter.
