Abstract

1,256,257. Detergent bar. CONTINENTAL OIL CO. 24 Oct., 1969 [4 Nov., 1968], No. 52359/69. Heading C5D. A detergent bar comprises 55 to 83% of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal soap having from 15 to 30% of a C 12 to C 18 alpha olefin sulphonate (or mixtures or blends thereof) substantially uniformly dispersed therein, up to 15% by wt. of an alkyl aryl sulphonate and 2 to 15% moisture. The soap may comprise a mixture of (a) 80-85% of the sodium soap of a C 16 -C 18 fatty acid and 15 to 20% of the sodium soap of a C 12 -C 16 fatty acid, i.e. derived from a mixture of tallow and coconut oil; or (b) 25 to 40% of the magnesium soap of a C 16 -C 18 fatty acid and 60-75% of the sodium soap at a C 16 -C 18 fatty acid.
