Abstract

1,255,787. Bis - (vinylsulphonylmethyl) ether. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 8 Nov., 1968 [13 Nov., 1967], No ,28504/71 Divided out of 1,255,786. Heading C2C. The novel compound bis-(vinylsulphonylmethyl) ether is prepared by reacting HOCH 2 - CH 2 SNa with ClCH 2 OCH 2 Cl to give (HOCH 2 - CH 2 SCH 2 ) 2 0 which is oxidized with H 2 0 2 to (HOCH 2 GH 2 SO 2 CH 2 ) 2 0, treating this with, e.g. SOCl 2 , to give (CICH 2 CH 2 S0 2 CH 2 ) 2 0 and dehydrochlorinating this to give the desired product, which is used as a photographic hardener.
