1,255,545. Tool changers. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 22 April, 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 20588/69. Heading B3B. A machine tool includes a magazine 2 and an automatic tool exchanger which comprises a support means, e.g. a part of the machine tool A, an arm 8 pivotally mounted on the support means, first means, e.g. an hydraulic motor 10, to pivot the arm 8 through an arc between the magazine 2 and the spindle 3 for transferring a tool 1 therebetween, a carrier member 6 movable along the arm 8, second means, e.g. a drive motor 9, for moving the carrier member 6 along the arm 8, at least one transfer arm 5A, 5B pivotally attached to the carrier member 6, third means, e.g. hydraulic drive motor 7A, 7B, for pivotally moving the or each transfer arm 5A, 5B in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of the arm 8, and a releasable gripping element secured to the end of the or each transfer arm 5A, 5B capable of holding a tool 1. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 916,501.
