An optical glass contains, in weight per cent : the balance, if any, consisting of other compatible constituents. The glass, which may optionally contain 0-5 Nb 2 O 5 and/or 0-10 Y 2 O 3 , has a refractive index of about 1À900, and a " V value " of about 40À0.
