Abstract

1,254,996. Severing. SANDYFORD ENG. Ltd. 20 Aug., 1970 [21 Aug., 1969], No. 40202/70. Heading B3D. Apparatus for cutting reinforced concrete piles, pipes and the like 1 comprises a sub-frame member 2 adapted to embrace the pile and be releasably secured thereto, a main frame 3 having first and second frameworks for embracing the pile, the first framework 10 being mounted on the sub-frame and adapted to be fixed in position relative to the pile, the second framwork 11 being mounted on the first and to rotate around the pile, and a pile cutting member 26 operatively associated with the second framework. The sub-frame 2 can be secured by clamps 5 to the pile and is provided with a catwalk 7 and levelling screws 8 for positioning the first framework 10 which, when positioned, is secured to the pile by clamps 12. The second framework 11 is guided by rollers 15, 16 for rotation on the first framework 10 and is rotated by a hand wheel 21 driving through gearing 20 a sprocket 18 around which is a chain 19 engaging a sprocket 17 on the framework 10. The pile cutting member consists of a circular diamond impregnated saw 26 driven by an electric motor or, if the saw is to operate under water, an hydraulic motor 27 mounted on a slide 23 adjustable on the second framework by a hand wheel 25. The apparatus may be placed on the pile and removed by a crane or the like, the framework 11 being provided with lifting lugs and the sub-frame 2 being connected to the framework 10 by chains 14.
