Abstract

1,253,354. Filter elements. TECALEMIT (ENG.) Ltd. 15 Nov., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 52176/67. Addition to 1,099,122. Headings B1D and B1T. Attached to each end of annular filter element 9 is an end cap 12 having a projecting annular lip 15 which is made of elastomeric material and is inclined so as to overlie an annular groove 16, the arrangement being such that the lip tends to enter the groove and form a seal with cover 6 or flange 10 of casing 1 when bolts 7 are tightened. Optionally an additional lip 17, concentric with lip 15, may be provided. The fluid to be filtered enters the casing via part 2 or 4, and the filtered fluid leaves by the other part. Filter element 9 may be made of radially-pleated paper. A suitable material is filter paper which is pleated with the paper-making machine "wire side" of the paper on the inner side of the element, assuming that the fluid enters the filter through port 2. Caps 12 may be moulded from polyvinyl chloride; but it is possible to form the lips 15 and 17 of different material, e.g. a synthetic rubber. The filter may be used in gas meter governor systems, or it may be applied to air arid oil filters for I.C. engines.
